Johannes & Candace LINDHOLM

in pursuit of His glory

Our purpose is to further the Kingdom of God by declaring Jesus to those around us, spreading the light and love of God to all who are hurting and bruised, and preaching deliverance and peace to those in spiritual captivity and chaos.

Johannes and Candace Lindholm serve as full-time permanent Associates in Missions. Candace is a missionary kid (MK) and moved with her parents to Finland at the age of 16. In 2012, she began serving as an AIM at the age of 18. Johannes moved to Finland from Sweden in 2016, and they became married that same year. Their AIM path has been different than most; they have taken the route of immigration and integration, establishing work lives in the country to help support their efforts and make more contacts. They also rely on love offerings and PIM funds to make important ministry trips within the region.

Candace was called to missions at the age of 5. Just a year later, her father was called by God to Finland and her family began their journey in missions. From 2005-2006, they served as AIM in Estonia and it was then that Candace visited Helsinki for the first time. After their family first arrived to Finland, she would lead worship during their house church services and speak on occasion. As she neared the age of 18, Candace felt strongly led to stay and assist the church in Finland and at age 19, she took on pastoral responsibility for the congregation in Helsinki. It is at this time that God confirmed her missions calling and more specifically, to the country of Finland. She has continued to serve as pastor, with Johannes working alongside her as deacon. Candace dearly loves to teach and help others grow in their relationship with God.

Johannes had felt a burden for Finland for many years, even before meeting Candace or learning about the Alphin’s work in the country. While born in Sweden, his roots are partially found in Finland as well.

Johannes’ experience with the Lord began at age 16 as part of the congregation in Falun, Sweden. He became part of Falun’s worship team and has continued his involvement in music ministry in Finland. He was appointed as deacon to the church in Helsinki in November 2018, and is involved in ministry during services, serving in whatever capacity is needed.

Johannes’ future goal is to establish a ministry focused on recovering alcoholics.

During the first four years of their marriage, they focused on working in Helsinki and building the local congregation there. Going forward, God has expanded their outlook and they are presently working with the Alphins to become more involved with the church in Finland on a national scale. Johannes and Candace serve as the National Men’s and Ladies’ Directors; they join in fellowship with the Venturas and minister to Uudet Alut Church (Turku), a daughter work, and also help maintain connections and ministry with members in outlying cities.

Candace is licensed with the UPCNC at the local level and is also pursuing local license with the UPCI. Johannes has a local worker’s license with the UPCI-Finland and is pursuing local licensing with the UPCNC. Additionally, their goal is to become Associate Missionaries with the UPCI’s Short-Term Missions program.

Expanding God’s Kingdom is their passion, and they are so thankful to be a part of what God is doing in Finland!

Receiving additional monthly partners – or love offerings – will help the Lindholms with ministry trips, both in Finland and the region. They offer heartfelt thanks for your prayerful consideration.

From the age of 19, Candace began helping us in a myriad of ways and became invaluable as our “right hand,” completing many ministry tasks as needed. The Lindholms have grown together in ministry and become foundational leaders, in different areas, of UPCI Finland’s headquarters church; they have also worked with us beyond Helsinki and we expect their involvement to grow over time. We are thankful for their burden and vision for the country, and believe that greater things will continue to spring forth from their ministry! – Mark and Glenda Alphin, Global Representatives

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
